All staff will be trauma-informed and trained in low-arousal techniques. Andover Small School will not utilise compliance based behaviour techniques (i.e. ABA).
For those children who present with sensory difficulties, a sensory diet will be provided to ensure that they can be successful in their learning. Those children will also be taught how to self-regulate their sensory needs and be pro-active in supporting their own learning needs.
In addition, the school will also provide opportunities for children to work with art and drama therapists as well as having access to Occupational Therapy and Speech and Language support, where needed. Where it is felt beneficial for a child, the school will also explore opportunities for animal assisted and music based therapies.
